Hot Springs
This home at Hot Springs serves 15 children, and is sponsored by Highview Community Church in Kitchener, Ontario. To read stories from Highview's trips to Thailand, check out their travel blog.
Unlike many of our other homes, Hot Springs was "adopted," rather than foudned by Asia's Hope. Director Suradet and his wife Yupa had pastored a village church for years, and had simply opened their church to a few orphaned children in the neighborhood. Over a few months, more and more children came to live at the church.
Suradet and Yupa eked out a meager existence, hunting, growing and gathering whatever food they could find, working extra odd jobs to pay for the kids' food and medical needs. When our country director Tutu Bee introduced us to the couple, we were deeply moved by their faith and their dedication to the kids.
We immediately gave a small cash gift to meet urgent needs and quickly located a church to help pay the bills. We are currently looking to add another sponsoring congregation to raise the funding of Hot Springs to match that of our other orphan homes. If you or your church are interested in co-sponsoring Hot Springs, please contact John McCollum by email or phone 614.804.6233.
